Navigating Nerves and Displaying Confidence
Wrestlers get nervous so much that it can hold them back from reaching their full potential. Imagine grinding through every rep, pushing through pain and fatigue, only to stumble when it matters most. The thing about nerves is that many wrestlers think it’s a bad thing. When you switch your mindset, nerves can be turned into a good thing.
If you’re not nervous, that means you don’t care. When you’re nervous, your mind is so hyper-focused on fighting; so fight every match, every position, and every second. When you step on that mat and you’re nervous, remember to smile, because that's how you know you’re ready.
When you know you're ready, you’re going to leave it all on the mat. Don’t be afraid to embrace your nerves and showcase your confidence. Emphasize your power when you finish the double leg. Show your coaches the move you’ve been tirelessly working on. Most importantly, show yourself that you’re the best.
